Collins Electrical Company, Inc. is proud to announce an important leadership transition within our Corporate Estimating Department. After more than 12 years as Chief Estimator and 31 years of dedicated service, David Plaster has begun a planned transition. Effective September 12, 2025, David will step down from his current role as Chief Estimator but will continue contributing to the department by focusing on complex bids, supporting strategic pursuits, and mentoring the next generation of estimators.
David’s story at Collins Electrical is one of resilience, dedication, and family legacy. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Charles Plaster, who worked at Collins Electrical for 37 years, including time as Chief Estimator and shareholder. Together, their combined 68 years of service have left an indelible mark on Collins Electrical and its culture.
From his early days as a shop boy in Modesto, to managing projects like Gregori High School and the SSJD Wastewater Treatment Plant, David has built a career defined by confident decision-making, strategy, and mentorship. Known for his ability to simplify the complex and get the job done, David has shaped the estimating team into a collaborative, skilled, and forward-looking department.
As part of this transition, we are thrilled to announce that Daniel Byrne has been promoted to Chief Estimator, also effective September 12, 2025. Daniel has been with Collins Electrical for 17 years, beginning in the field before moving into estimating in 2022. His combination of hands-on experience, technical expertise, and a passion for mentoring has made him a natural leader within the department. Daniel has been working closely with David to ensure a seamless transition, focusing on process improvement, team development, and crossbranch alignment.
